Adam Groovebox playing: the prompt bar and CREATE along the top, four loopers (chords, a drum loop, perc and bass) each with its waveform, and the drum kit's eight pads below, kick, snare, clap and closed hat on the bottom row, each with its 16 steps.

The real app, playing. It scans your folders; you type a sentence and press CREATE.

How it works

Point it at your sample folders and say what you want to hear. It picks the loops and drums that fit from your own library, stretches every loop to one tempo, tunes the melodic ones to one key, and the groove plays.

1.Your folders get scanned

Point it at the folders you already have. It keeps the loops and the drum one-shots, and learns each one’s instrument, tempo and key.

2.You type a sentence

Say it in plain words: dusty boom bap, deep house in A minor. Press CREATE.

3.It plays. From your library, in time and in key.

It casts a kit for the eight pads and four loops from your samples. Every loop is stretched to the tempo, the chords and bass are tuned to the key, and the whole groove lands on the bar.

Six buttons on every row.

Each loop, the kit and every pad carry the same strip, left to right.

The transport strip from the app: a die, a left arrow, a right arrow, S, M, and a green pause button, in one frame.
RND

Roll the dice: a random other sample from that row’s crate, the samples in your folders that fit it.

‹ ›

Walk the crate: the previous or the next matching sample.

S

Solo. Only what is soloed plays. Solo as many as you like.

M

Mute, at once. It keeps running underneath, so it comes back in place.

▶ / ❚❚

Play waits for the next bar, so it always lands on the beat. Pause stops it at once.

On every pad

The KICK pad: its name, an SC button, the transport strip, the kick's waveform, a volume fader at 70, a small die over step 15 and a row of 16 steps, four of them lit. A B C D
  • ASC, on the KICK: the kick’s sidechain switch. On, the kick ducks the rest (more below).
  • BThe second die, over step 15 (RND STEP): rolls a new 16-step pattern for that pad.
  • CThe 16 steps: tap any step on or off. It plays this time round if the playhead has not passed it.
  • DVOL: the see-through fader over step 16.

On every loop

Looper 1, CHORDS: the transport strip, the loop's waveform with the playhead, a volume fader at 70, a WAV handle, a TS button and a semitones field reading plus or minus 0. A B C D
  • AWAV: drag the loop out as a WAV, into your DAW or a folder. GROOVE WAV, top right, drags the whole groove.
  • BTS ⇄ PITCH: TS stretches the loop to the tempo and keeps its pitch. PITCH plays it like a record, speed and pitch together.
  • CSemitones: move the loop up or down, up to 12, heard in TS.
  • DVOL: the loop’s fader.

Five channels: four loopers, 1 to 4, and the DRUM KIT, 5, with eight pads: KICK · SNARE · CLAP · CLOSED HAT · OPEN HAT · PERC · TOM · CYMBAL. The numbered buttons along the top start a channel on the next bar, and stop it at once.

MASTER FX. The kick is the key.

The kick always drives the sidechain. Every time it hits, the rest of the groove ducks out of its way for a moment, so the low end stays clean.

The master row: SIDECHAIN with THR and REL, CLIPPER with CLIP, COMPRESSOR with THR and MIX, LIMITER with GAIN and RELEASE, each with an ON switch, then the MASTER fader with its meters and the REC button.

Sidechain

THR sets how much the rest ducks, REL how fast it comes back.

Clipper

CLIP shaves the peaks. At zero it is out of the sound.

Compressor

THR sets where it starts; MIX blends it in, parallel style.

Limiter

GAIN pushes the level up into a fixed ceiling that nothing goes over. RELEASE sets how fast it lets go.

Master · Rec

The MASTER fader turns the whole groove down. REC records the master output to a WAV.

Every channel has its own SC knob for how far it ducks under the kick: turn a bass loop's deep, a hat loop's barely. On the kit, its SC ducks the other seven pads under its own kick.

Every section has its own ON / OFF. MASTER FX, at the top of the window, shows or hides the row; the sound does not change.

Questions.

Do I need an AI key of my own?

Yes: CREATE uses your own key from OpenAI, Claude or Gemini, pasted once and kept on your computer. We add no credits and no monthly fee, and Gemini has a free tier today. In our own testing, $5 of OpenAI credit lasted us more than half a year of testing and use. Only text is sent, never audio. Where to make a key: Get started, step 2.

What samples does it need?

Your own. Drum one-shots for the eight pads, and loops of any instrument (chords, drum loops, perc, bass and more) for the four loopers. Nothing ships with it, so every groove sounds like your library. Your files never move.

Does it run on Mac and Windows?

Yes, both. It is an app of its own, not a plugin. The Mac download comes with your key; the Windows download is coming soon, and we will email it to you. Your key works on it.

How is it different from Adam Studio?

Adam Groovebox builds a groove from your loops and one-shots: an 8-pad kit and four loopers, in one tempo and one key, with master FX and WAV out. Adam Studio adds the AI producer, which writes chord progressions, bass lines and melodies, on eight players, plus a synth, a slicer, recording, a piano roll, sharing to Adam Play and the plugin on Mac. The three side by side.

Does Adam Studio include it?

Yes, with a new order: buy Adam Studio and Adam Groovebox comes with it, free.

Can I record into it?

No, it records the master output only. Press REC and the whole groove, after the master FX, is saved as a 24-bit WAV in your Music folder, under Adam Groovebox, Recordings. Recording your voice, a guitar or MIDI into a looper is Adam Studio.

Can I take a groove into my DAW?

Yes. Drag the WAV handle on any channel, or GROOVE WAV for the whole groove, straight into your DAW or a folder.

How do I get it after I pay?

$39 once. You sign in with your email address, then pay with PayPal or a card. Your licence key arrives by email right after your payment, usually within a minute or two, with the Mac download link (Windows: we email it when it is ready). Questions? Reply to that email.
