Neither. You paste in your own key from OpenAI, Anthropic or Google and the prompts go straight to them — never through us, never metered, never marked up. A build is a handful of small text requests, not a stream of audio. The app also runs with no key at all: every control, the sequencer, the piano roll and the mixer work without one, and the producer agent is the part that asks for it.

No — and that is the whole idea. Adam Studio plays your folders: point it at the packs you already own and it listens through them, reading wav, aif, mp3, flac and ogg. Your crates stop being an archive you scroll and become an instrument.

Bring all of it. Point Adam at your Splice downloads — or any folder of packs, however deep — and it walks every subfolder in the background while you keep playing, reading the tempo, key and instrument those files already carry in their names. Nothing is uploaded: the analysis never opens your audio to send it anywhere, and a bigger crate just gives the producer agent a better band to cast from.

It reads instrument, tempo, key, mood and loop-or-one-shot from every file in your library, then casts eight parts from your sentence — a drummer, a bass player, a harmony and a melody, written in parallel. Every part arrives with a crate of up to ten ranked alternatives; ‹ › walks them, so you are never stuck with the first pick.

Never. Only text leaves your Mac — what you typed and the file names — and only to the provider whose key you entered. No audio is ever sent, and there is no code path in the app that opens a sample file to send it. Details in the privacy policy.

One master tempo and one master key, and every player conforms to both the moment you move them. Percussion is deliberately left out of the retuning — “the track is in F now” was never meant to transpose your kick.

Time-stretch keeps tempo and key independent: a loop changes speed without changing note. Pitch mode moves both together, like a turntable. Melodic parts land in stretch mode and drums land on the turntable, because on a drum the stretch is the thing you would hear — and either player can be switched by hand.

A full one, with velocity as the note’s own shade — ⌥-drag sets it, and it reaches the audio as a gain before the voice. The agent writes the parts; you edit them like any roll, with snap, grid, quantize, marquee select and undo.

Space is transport anywhere. ⇧⇥ opens and shuts the piano roll. The letter rows are a playable keyboard — A is C, the row above holds the sharps — with Z and X for the octave, and ⌘1–⌘3 for the three banks of eight. Inside the roll: S snap, G grid, arrows to move or transpose, ⌘D duplicate, ⌘Z undo.

It will. The standalone app ships first; VST3 and AU land by release and are included in the same price — you will not pay twice for the plugin.

Both directions. Send MIDI clock out to drive your gear, or follow clock in and Adam Studio takes its tempo, start, continue and stop from your gear instead. Play in from any MIDI keyboard, and what you play echoes out to a hardware synth. Mapping a controller’s knobs to parameters is on the Coming soon list.

Yes — your interface’s inputs route to whichever players you choose, so a singer sits on one channel and a guitar on another, each through its own DJ channel. Takes record bar-synced, with a count-in, as audio or as MIDI.
